WARNING: This could get cheesy.
It’s been just over 12 months since I started this blog and in this time Look at Brew has become something completely different to what it started life as. I never intended for there to be news features, brewery features, full-on reviews and the like, it was only ever going to be a site documenting the art of beer labels with some Top Trumps style info for each. Now though, it’s an entirely different beast and I love it.
I’ve spent the best part of a year meeting some fantastic local brewers and industry folk, I’ve sampled some stunning beers, been to some truly great events and even had a go at designing & brewing my own beer. 41 posts, over 6000 page hits and 837 follows isn’t too shabby in my books, but it’s not stats that have made my first year of dedicated beer blogging so important to me, it’s the people I’ve met and the opportunities that’ve swung my way because of it.
Look at Brew is still a pretty small blog but it’s done great things for me and at the heart of it all, it’s made me more confident. I’ve always been on the shyer side, prone to a bit of that social anxiety from time to time, but getting out there and chatting with the brewers, going to events, interacting with beer-folk on Twitter and having people read, like and share the posts I come up with has done wonders. The blog has changed, evolved even, and I have too. So thank you, and here’s to another opportunity giving, people meeting and beer filled year, cheers!
