Christmas carols have been well and truly blaring out for weeks now and whilst I know many of the lyrics to The Twelve Days of Christmas, I actually have no idea what the 12 days of Christmas are. And I don’t need to. I have beer. The Twelve Beer of Christmas, or #12beersofxmas, to be official and Twitter-kind.

The #12beersofxmas is some festive fun brought to us from the lads at The Beer O’Clock Show. Starting from this Saturday (20th) it’s a beer a day, for 12 days, with a little review, tweet and/or instagram pic. Or, in the words of the BOCS:

“Get involved…

~ Share your own list/blog/pic with us on Twitter or Instagram

~ Comment on our daily blogs

~ Share on Twitter/Instagram using #12BeersofXmas to be part of one of our Storify feeds

~ Tag your pics on Instagram #CheersGuys & #12Beers of Xmas to enter the daily #PrizelessPrize

~ Write your own blog (let us know the link to share)”

I was a complete newbie to Twitter and beer blogging this time last year so I didn’t take part, but made sure I squirrelled away some brews to get involved this year.

and this is my haul:

I’ve not worked out which order I’ll be drinking them in yet, but I will be opening Ger’onimo from Beavertown on Christmas Day (along with many others taking part…so, Ger’onimo Day?) And I’m probably gonna go with Meantime’s Greenwich Ale (from M&S) on the 31st. I may even sub-out a couple if I get anything super interesting from old St Nick.

I’ll be blogging a review each day of all the beers and you can follow everyone taking part on Twitter by using #12dayofxmas

but for now, take a look at the preview post on storify by Steve from The Beer O’Clock Show (complete with Spruce Willis)…
